Buying it, and when not to

The TEG1120P-16-250W is an unmanaged switch with 18 gigabit ports and 2 SFP slots, PoE on 16 ports, on a 250W budget. It is the same shape as the 150W version with substantially more power to give.

Choose it whenever sixteen drops are going to be hungry. A floor of AX3000 or Wi-Fi 7 ceiling access points, a camera installation with motorised or illuminated units, or a mixed site where you do not want to be recalculating every time the customer adds a device - 250W across sixteen ports gives real headroom, and headroom in a PoE budget is what prevents the intermittent, maddening faults that come from devices browning out under load.

If the drops are plainly light - fixed cameras, a few modest access points - the 150W version does the same job for less and that saving is real. If you need twenty-four drops, move to the TEG1128P-24-250W or the TEG1128P-24-410W rather than chaining two switches. For a fast-Ethernet camera-only build, the TEF1118P-16-150W is much cheaper. And if the customer needs VLANs, port isolation or remote management across sites, specify the cloud-managed TEG2220P-16-250W, which is this switch's managed equivalent.
