Tenda A33 — AX3000 Dual-Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Range Extender

Buying it, and when not to

The A33 is an AX3000 dual-band gigabit Wi-Fi range extender - the serious end of the extender category. AX3000 and a gigabit port mean the extended area is not automatically crippled, which is the usual complaint about cheap repeaters.

Use it where a customer has a capable Wi-Fi 6 router and one problem zone that genuinely matters: a home office at the back of the house, an upstairs bedroom used for work calls, a shop's back room with the POS terminal. The gigabit port also makes it useful as a wireless bridge for a device that only has Ethernet - a smart television, a DVR, a desktop - which is often the real reason somebody needs one.

Even a good extender is still an extender. It halves airtime unless placed carefully, it will not rescue a zone where the parent signal is already weak, and roaming between the router and the extender is not as clean as a proper mesh. If the brief is whole-property coverage, the Nova EX12 or ME3 Pro mesh packs do it properly and often for less total outlay. If there is any Ethernet in the building, a cabled i27 ceiling access point beats this comfortably. Buy the A33 when there is exactly one zone to fix and no cable to it.
