Tenda TEG2206P-4-63W — 6GE Cloud Managed Switch With 4-Port PoE

Buying it, and when not to

The TEG2206P-4-63W is a 6-port gigabit cloud-managed switch with PoE on four ports and a 63W budget. It is the smallest managed switch in the range, and the cloud management is what you are paying the premium for.

Buy it for the small site you will have to support remotely. A shop, a kiosk, a branch office, a single-floor clinic with three access points and a camera: four powered gigabit drops covers it, and because the switch reports to a cloud console you can see whether a port is up and change a setting without crossing Lagos. For an installer maintaining twenty small sites, that is the difference between a sustainable support contract and an unprofitable one.

If you will never log into it, you are paying for nothing - the unmanaged TEG1105P-4-63W is the same four powered gigabit ports for less. If you need more than four powered drops, the TEG2220P-16-250W is the next managed step, or the unmanaged TEG1110PF-8-120W if management is not required. Check the 63W budget against your access points before committing, as with any small PoE switch. And if the site needs full VLAN routing or static routes rather than remote visibility, the L2 and L3 managed TEG3328F and TEG5328F series is the correct class.
