Buying it, and when not to

This is the Starlink Standard X kit as hardware: what comes in the box, bought once. The monthly internet service is separate, billed by Starlink directly on the account the kit is registered to, and the price on this page does not include it.

Satellite is the right answer in one clear situation: the site has no fibre, no usable LTE, and no realistic prospect of either. A farm, a lodge, a quarry, a construction site, an estate ahead of the fibre build, a clinic in a town the carriers have not reached. It is also a good disaster-recovery line for a Lagos business whose terrestrial link has failed once too often, because it fails independently of every cable in the ground. What it needs from the installer is a clear view of the sky with no tree or parapet in the way, and steady power - plan the inverter and battery as you would for any always-on equipment.

Who should buy something else: anyone who can get fibre. On price per gigabyte over a year, a fibre or GPON drop wins comfortably, and so does good LTE for a light user - price a 4G08 SIM router against a satellite subscription before assuming. This kit also terminates the connection; it does not cover a building. A large house or a commercial site still needs WiFi designed behind it - a mesh pack, or cabled ceiling access points on a PoE switch - and that belongs in the same quote.

How this price works

The price above is in Naira and ex-VAT. VAT at 7.5% is added on the invoice.

A price holds for seven days from the day you see it. Equipment prices in Nigeria move with the exchange rate, so past seven days we requote rather than honour a stale figure.

Payment by bank transfer against a proforma invoice carrying your order reference. Collection from our office at Alaba International Market, delivery across Lagos, or courier nationwide. Carton pricing is quoted on request.
